  Please join Department of Neighborhoods staff and community members, to learn about the Get Involved in Your Neighborhood curriculum and workshop.



• Involving All Neighbors will be organizing a Get Involved in Your Neighborhood Curriculum Training for community leaders including teachers, neighborhood organizers and other interested parties. Our new Get Involved in Your Neighborhood curriculum publication will be ready for distribution to those groups committed to this community building program and the inclusion of neighbors with disabilities and others who have been marginalized. • The latest edition of the Involving All Neighbors book: Involving All Neighbors, Building Inclusive Communities in Seattle will be out in late January 2004. Get in touch with us if you would like to receive a copy.

Recent News and Community Action:

• Washington Middle School and Community Partners received a Race Relations and Social Justice Neighborhood Matching Fund Award for the 2003-2004 school year. They plan to continue their engagement with their community utilizing the IAN Get Involved in Your Community curriculum. Student teams, including students in Special Education and Health Science classes, will map their community and develop projects for service learning. If you live or work in the Central District, Contact IAN about supporting the projects.



• Rainier Beach High School will also be participating in the Get Involved in Your Neighborhood curriculum in 2004. Students for several classes: special education, English as a Second Language, History and Art, will form teams to develop community service projects. Guided by facilitators and community mentors, they will explore their personal interests, map the school neighborhood, create community building projects, and celebrate their achievements with community members.
