Purchased in 2008, this site is in the middle of working with neighbors to design and build this new p-patch. For more information call the P-Patch office. They have developed a Mission Statement: Connecting our diverse community with opportunities to share, learn and grow in a neighborhood garden.

Upcoming Events:

*Work Party*
The garden's first work party will be help Saturday, August 9th, 2008 from 9am to 4pm to clear the debris and and raise awareness in the community as to what we are doing and how people can get involved. It's a family-friendly event with balloons, sidewalk chalk and a mosaic stepping
stone project for the kids, followed by a neighborhood potluck at 4pm. Youth from the Student Conservation Association (SCA) and furry friends from Goat Justice League will also be joining us for part of the day. Thanks to Mel and Christina for organizing the event. Please contact annachristina02@gmail.com to help out or RSVP. We still need the following:

A. Someone who loves kids to lead a mosaic art project (Mel will have supplies and instructions ready, contact melovision@speakeasy.net)
B. Tiles or materials to make mosaic stepping stones (contact melovision@speakeasy.net)
C. A photographer-please ask around. We would love to connect with an aspiring photographer (contact annachristina02@gmail.com)
D. 1 water cooler (contact kogutski@yahoo.com)
E. Sports drink powder and snacks (contact kogutski@yahoo.com)
F. Volunteers to help decorate sidewalks with chalk to advertise event (contact kogutski@yahoo.com)
G. I'm happy to report that the goats will be joining us for the work party, can you help with watching over them? Goats will be present from 11am-4pm.
(contact melovision@speakeasy.net)

2. *Neighborhood Night Out*
Tuesday, August 5th, 2008 is the annual Neighborhood Night Out event. Each street or block typically plans their own events centered around community building and safety. Some blocks are doing kids activities, showing movies
and having potluck dinners. Spring St. P-Patch would like to contribute to the event with baskets advertising the work party and general p-patch info and contact, along with copies of the design plan and packages of seeds.
Thank you to Mel and Christina for helping out with this. We hope to see you in the street!

3. *Next Steering Committee Meeting*
All are welcome to participate at our next Steering Committee meeting Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at
7-8:30pm at Erika's home on 2515 Spring St.
