Seattle Parks is able to serve all our citizens with quality recreation and stewardship opportunities today and tomorrow by:

acquiring new Parks properties to serve more people
sustainable building and design programs
development of public policies that help us protect parks

Through our staff's commitment to environmental stewardship, Seattle Parks is better able care for a parks system that reflects the natural history of our region and the recreational pursuits of its citizenry. Long-range planning, combined with the use of sustainable materials and design, will ensure that future generations are able to enjoy Parks without the threat of overuse or mis-use of our resources.

Through close working relationships with our diverse communities and other government agencies, Seattle Parks is able to continually improve our Park system for all people, and respond to future environmental challenges.

ACQUISITION

To create new neighborhood parks in densely developed urban villages and to preserve land in Seattle's greenbelts and watersheds, Parks has initiated planning, site selection and negotiation on several urban village projects over the past year.

POLICIES

Seattle Parks is always being asked to balance the recreational needs of our active public and the conservation of natural resources. To meet this challenge, we work with local organizations and our citizens to set and revise Policies that protect park lands and the interests of recreationists.
