Parks acquired the 39,000 square foot property at 7028
9th Ave NW for a new neighborhood park. This space is open to
interim passive use prior to the planning and development process
for the new park. Goundswell Northwest and Whittier Community
Council sponsored a celebration at the site on Sunday, May 4,
2008.

submitting applications for grants from King County Conservation
Futures Tax and the Washington State Recreation Conservation

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Project Description:
On July 29, 2002 Seattle City Council unanimously approved Pro
Parks Levy Opportunity Fund funding to acquire sites for new neighborhood
parks in underserved areas of Ballard.
COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION
A community meeting was held on March 27, 2008 at the Ballard
Boys and Girls Club to announce the possible acquisition of this
site and receive community feedback.
