Seattle Parks and Recreation Open Space Gap Report and 2006 Update
The original 2001 Open Space Gap Report made use of Geographic Information
System (GIS) mapping technology as a means of illustrating the open
space goals in the Citys Comprehensive Plan and Seattles
Parks and Recreation Plan 2000, thus helping to indicate where future
open space investments should be made. Thanks to Seattle voters, the
2000 Pro Parks Levy has allowed the City to acquire and develop significant
new park lands. The following report update uses GIS maps, demographic
data and other information to track Pro Parks levy-funded and other
acquisitions and identifies remaining gaps in Seattles open space
network.
