Human Resources Manager
OVERVIEW: Plans, organizes and manages all activities of the Human Resources function while driving strategic review and development of HR initiatives.
FLSA STATUS: Exempt REPORTS TO: Chief Operating Officer
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Oversee day to day HR operations including recruitment, hiring, compliance, employee benefits, compensation, employee relations, performance management, employment policies and procedures, employee communications and other related matters. Serve as internal consultant to all levels of employees on HR issues.2. Oversee employee benefit programs & benefit plan administration including medical, dental, life, and disability insurance, pension, 403(b) plan, all Time Off programs, and unemployment compensation. Also responsible to oversee renewal, make recommendation regarding plans and/or cost, oversee open enrollment, employee communications and conduct a variety of benefits meetings.
3. Manage employee compensation program (to include working on the development of a merit based compensation structure) and related programs; maintain job descriptions; participate in multiple annual salary surveys; analyze compensation; monitor salaries against budget and make recommendation for adjustments.
4. Assure compliance with all federal, state and local laws related to employment. Manage relationships with regulatory agencies & relevant third party administrators. Complete required reports such as the EEO-1, CTR, New Hire Report, etc; maintain other records, reports, and logs to conform to laws & regulations. Update HR Policy Manual and Employee Handbook as needed.
5. Oversee, monitor and enhance the employee performance management program.
6. Administers employee relations program(s). This includes investigating employee relations & employee performance problems, oversee corrective action process, provide guidance and recommendations for resolution.
7. Administer an effective recruitment program focusing on enhancing the quality, depth & diversity of staff. Manage relocation, immigration and other related responsibilities; enhance tracking, reporting and analysis capabilities.
8. Consult with legal counsel as appropriate, and/or as directed on HR matters.
9. Oversee employee training & professional development; recommend, evaluate, and participate in staff training & development activities. Oversees and implement new employee orientation program.
10. Coordinates workers compensation program. Monitors claims and coordinates all activities between employee, the Department of L&I and the TPA.
11. Develops and monitors the operating budget for the HR Dept. Provide leadership to HR Staff.
12. Participates on committees, and works on special projects or takes on additional responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
1. BA/BS in a relevant field and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience required. Masters strongly preferred. PHR or SPHR certification preferred.2. 7-10 years in a related work environment, including at least 3 years in management capacity & at least 5 + years experience managing a HR Function.
3. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with executives, other management staff, employees, and the general public;
4. Excellent interpersonal, oral & written communications skills; ability to exercise sound, timely judgment.
5. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.
6. Ability to work successfully with a high degree of ambiguity. Ability to apply and adapt HR practices and techniques to the special requirements of the museum and/or executive/senior management/
7. Strong organizational and management skills; ability to work effectively with personnel from many disciplines; experience handling multiple competing priorities and timely, effective decision-making.
8. Demonstrated proficiency with and accuracy in using MS Office products.
9. Ability to work with close attention to detail and to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
10. Ability to adhere to Museum policies and support management decisions in a positive, professional manner.
