| Meeting Information
The Cascadia Mayors Council plans to meet two times each year in locations throughout the Cascadia Corridor. The first organizational meeting was held on Tuesday, July 14, 1998, in Seattle and was an informal discussion of ideas on forming the structure of this group. The inaugural meeting of the Cascadia Mayors Council was held on Tuesday, November 10, 1998, at Bell Harbor International Conference Center on Seattles waterfront. Issue forums for discussion included community policing, drugs and border issues, and regional transportation. Leading author and journalist, Neal Peirce, gave the keynote address and was the Cascadia Mayors Council's guest speaker throughout the day. The following meeting of the Cascadia Mayors Council was held in Victoria, British Columbia, on Friday, May 7, 1999, and sessions included Section 110/border issues, culture and & heritage tourism, regional growth management, public safety, and travel in Cascadia/Two Nation Vacation. Former B.C. Premier and current Senior Associate with The Sustainable Development Research Institute, Mike Harcourt, was the keynote luncheon speaker discussing managing inevitable growth. The Cascadia Mayors Council will hold its next meeting in Vancouver, Washington, on December 9-10, 1999. Issue sessions will include transportation as a driver of economic development, regional governance, e-commerce/internet taxation, and regional growth and traffic congestion.
