The commissions operate as volunteer advisory bodies to the Mayor and City Council on relevant issues and concerns. Members are appointed by the Mayor, City Council and the commissions themselves. Although SOCR provides staff support, the Commissions operate independently from the Department. Commissioners Handbook - This Handbook describes the roles and responsibilities common to all three commissions, and highlights topics most frequently referenced by Commissioners during their tenure.
