Commissions

The Seattle Office for Civil Rights staffs 3 commissions to the City of Seattle:

• The Seattle Human Rights Commission
• The Seattle Women's Commission

• The Seattle Commission for Sexual Minorities

The commissions operate as volunteer advisory bodies to the Mayor and City Council on relevant issues and concerns. Members are appointed by the Mayor, City Council and the commissions themselves.

Although SOCR provides staff support, the Commissions operate independently from the Department.
