Welcome to the Seattle Climate Action Plan homepageWith the issue of climate protection hotter than ever and the impacts of climate disruption widely felt in the Seattle region and beyond, Seattle’s Climate Action Plan is a robust call to action for the entire community. A “greenprint” for a climate-friendly Seattle, the plan calls for new climate protection investments, the formation of diverse and strategic partnerships -- like the Seattle Climate Partnership -- and action from businesses, government and citizens. The plan responds to each recommendation of the Mayor’s Green Ribbon Commission on Climate Protection focusing on Seattle’s main climate pollutants, emphasizing solutions that reduce driving, increase fuel efficiency and use of biofuels, and reduce energy use in homes and businesses. Mayors across the United States are taking action—nearly 700 have signed Mayor Nickels’ US Mayors Climate Protection Agreement to beat the Kyoto Protocol target for reducing climate pollution. The Seattle Climate Action Plan serves as an example to other communities not only for how to reduce emissions, but to clean the air, save money, thrive economically, and make cities more livable for all. 2007 Progress Report Documents
