A. Existing Conditions Analysis Review Phase II objectives and planning process. Refine scope of work. Assemble a profile of existing and future households with children. Complete an assessment of needs specific to children, schools and families. Assess issues related to children, schools and families in other plan elements including: a)Housing, b) Open Space Recreation and Culture, and c) Community Diversity and Human Services. Inventory facilities and services available for, or directed at families and children including: Parks and playgrounds; Clubs and groups (such as 4-H, Scouts, arts groups.) Schools; Youth outreach services; and Libraries

Product of Step A:
Profile of existing and future families with children, resources, needs assessment, and list of related issues in other plan elements.

B. Alternatives Development

Develop recommendations to achieve objectives for Children, Schools and Families. Recommendations may include: Revisions to growth forecasts/targets; Policy revisions/additions; Recommendations to the Seattle Schools Board; Suggestions for family oriented housing; Identification of recreational and community facilities needed to support Children, Schools; and Identification of needed services. Work with Planning Committee to integrate Children, Schools and Families' recommendations into community-wide alternative. Provide input into other plan elements.

1. Recommendations for meeting the objectives of Children, Schools and Families.
2. Children, Schools and Families element of community-wide alternatives.

C. Alternatives Evaluation

1. Evaluate the effectiveness of various Children, Schools and Families' recommendations to achieve objectives. Provide input into the evaluation of community-wide alternatives and other plan elements

1. Report summarizing evaluation of alternatives.

D. Concept Plan<

1. Work with Planning Committee to synthesize concept plan.
2. Prepare Children, Schools and Families element of conceptual plan.

1. Prioritize Children, Schools and Families recommendations
2. Prepare implementation recommendations including costs, responsibilities and timing.

F. Ideas

The following lists of potential work plan tasks stem from ideas generated by the community during Phase I outreach efforts.
• Assess what portion of Capitol Hill households in 2014 are likely to be families with children.
• Assess the needs of children, current facilities for children, and their adequacy.
• Work with the city and community groups to develop future programming for Lowell School.
