August

Trees: Put out traps for apple maggots.  Water that new tree you planted.  Set Soaker-hoses around newly planted trees.  Prune fruit trees after picking.
Garden: Trim the bottom leaves of the tomato plants to keep them away from the ground and reduce the chances of "Black Rot" later in the season.  Prune spent canes of summer-bearing raspberries and tie up the new, green primo canes.
Basic: Consider low-water-use plants for next year's heat wave.  Divide early bloomers like iris and day lilies.  Spread mulch or fine bark to retain water.
