DPD Frequently Asked Questions
Land Use - SEPA (State Environmental Policy Act)
  1. What is SEPA?

1 - Q. What is SEPA?
A. SEPA means the State Environmental Policy Act that is a chapter of the Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 197-11. The City of Seattle has incorporated the provisions of WAC 197-11 into the Seattle Municipal Code (SMC) Chapter 25.05 and establishes the environmental policies and procedures as applied to development within the City. This is often referred to in the Master Use Permit (MUP) as the “environmental review.” For information regarding MUP applications for environmental review, see CAM 208, When Environmental Review Is Required in Seattle. Find more information about codes DPD administers on our Codes website.
