DPD is launching a Major Review of the City’s Comprehensive Plan, the document that guides Seattle's growth and development. You can learn more about the comprehensive plan on our Comp Plan 101 page, or read the plan.
Seattle is undertaking a major periodic Review of the Comprehensive Plan as required by the Growth Management Act. This Act requires local governments to establish and broadly disseminate a public participation program. This Public Participation Program addresses how the City will meet the requirements for early and continuous public participation.
What's the project timeline?
City Council has directed DPD to take a phased approach to the Comprehensive Plan update because the state deadline for completing a review and adopting updates was moved to June 2015. Final Council action on the update will likely happen in the first half of 2015. Council may take action on some parts of the Plan earlier, as part of the annual amendment cycles in 2013 and 2014. We will add further details about the schedule as they become available.
We will continue to provide opportunities for public engagement during the comprehensive plan update process. Watch our website,
Facebook page, and Twitter feed (#SEA2030) to stay involved with this project.
