Active pedestrian streets can sometimes be created by filling in streets to create plazas, though there is some debate as to whether the effect is vitalizing or deadening. Special paving treatment, trees or greenery, furnishings, wayfinding signage and other pedestrian amenities all contribute to an inviting and actively used pedestrian street. |
