Completed Projects

Center City Wayfinding (1999)
Working with the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT), CityDesign developed a manual of design guidelines and a location plan for a comprehensive Center City wayfinding system that includes signage, maps and a web site.

Read the Center City Wayfinding Project Summary (28.6 MB) and Background Analysis (53.9 MB).

Potlatch Trail Plan (2001)
CityDesign developed a pedestrian and bicycle plan to connect five spectacular open spaces: Elliott Bay, Myrtle Edwards Park, Olympic Sculpture Park, Seattle Center and South Lake Union Park.

Read the Potlatch Trail Plan (3.0 MB)

First Hill Pedestrian/West Slope (2005)
CityDesign facilitated a workshop to develop design guidelines for the West Slope area of First Hill. The guidelines are intended for use by developers of properties in the West Slope choosing to provide public benefits in the form of public pedestrian improvements in adjacent rights of way and on-site open space.

Download the First Hill Pedestrian/West Slope summary report (1.4 MB).

Terry Avenue North Design Guidelines (2004)
CityDesign created design guidelines for a six block section of Terry Avenue between Downtown Seattle and Lake Union. The guidelines enhance the historic character of Terry Avenue North while:

  • improving safety and lighting
  • integrating industrial uses with new development
  • making the street more pedestrian friendly

Download a copy of the Terry Avenue North Design Guidelines (26.5 MB) or visit the Terry Avenue North Design Guidelines website.

Northgate Notebook (2005)
CityDesign assembled a notebook that consolidates all the City's projects related to the Northgate Planning effort. It provides the framework for similar future city documents. It will reach the community with valuable and up-dated information from developers, city agencies, county and state of all related projects in a study area. Arranging information chronologically, it identifyies major players and stakeholders and major projects that will shape and determine the future of Northgate.

Download the Northgate Notebook (8.3 MB).

Denny Triangle Neighborhood Green Street Guidelines (2001)
The goal of the 9th and Terry Green Streets is to provide an urban landscaped setting that functions as a continuous linear open space for pedestrians. Automobile traffic will not be eliminated in order to create this sense of open space. Instead, it will be integrated into the street design to maintain the feeling of an urban streetscape. On-street parking will also be incorporated, especially near small retail uses.
