What We Do
Mission

CityDesign transforms and shapes the civic character of Seattle’s built and natural environment by:

  • developing and maintain an urban design vision for Seattle consistent with our department policies and goals
  • acting as an urban advocate of design excellence in the City’s built environment upholding standards of consistency and coordination between public and private agencies
  • facilitating collaboration between the City of Seattle departments, property owners, other commissions, developers, community in general, groups and agencies responsible for the public realm
  • facilitating citizen dialogue on urban design issues, policies, and actions affecting the public realm
Work

CityDesign leads the design of Seattle's public realm. It uses its professional design and facilitation skills to bring together government agencies, project developers and Seattle's citizens to tackle projects that address the city's large-scale urban design needs.

CityDesign led the development of the waterfront concept plan.
