The City's Design Review program uses Design Guidelines to help new development make a positive contribution to Seattle's neighborhoods. To augment citywide Design Guidelines, neighborhoods may prepare specific Neighborhood Design Guidelines that reflect the character of the neighborhood, and protect the qualities that a neighborhood values most.
Separate sets of Neighborhood Design Guidelines are currently drafted for Upper Queen Anne and Uptown. Both sets of Design Guidelines were drafted by the community through meetings with residents, business owners, and property owners. A SEPA determination of non-significance (DNS) was issued on both sets of Guidelines on October 9, 2008. City Council is expected to hear public comment and consider both sets of Guidelines for formal adoption in late 2008 or early 2009.
