Funding

NBD Request for Proposals

During the first quarter of the year, the NBD program solicit proposals from non-profit organizations interested in completing projects and/or providing services that benefit a Seattle neighborhood business district. Projects that focus on but are not solely limited to organizational development, marketing, physical improvements, and/or projects that support the Green Seattle Initiative within neighborhood business districts are encouraged to apply.

NBD Website Assistance

Website Assistance for Neighborhood Business District Organizations
Does your business organization need a website to communicate with business members and customers?
Do you have staff and/or volunteers interested in learning how to update and maintain your website?
The City of Seattle’s Office of Economic Development is working with NPower Seattle to provide website development and web technology training tailored to neighborhood business district organizations.

OED is accepting applications from business organizations interested in this FREE service.
Applications due March 7, 2008.

Other City Departments

  • DON - The Neighborhood Matching Fund provides money to Seattle neighborhood groups and organizations for a broad array of neighborhood-initiated improvement, organizing or planning projects.
  • Seattle Public Utilities provides Environmental Grants to help build community environmental projects to protect water quality and remove litter and graffiti.
  • Department of Information Technology, Community Technology Program - Provides grants to Seattle groups to increase technology literacy and access and to enhance electronic civic participation through the Bill Wright Technology Matching Fund.
  • Office of Arts and Culture provides grants to organizations and individuals to support the arts and cultural activities through the City Artists Fund, the Youth Arts Program and the Civic Partner Program
  • The Pro Parks Levy Funding is designed to fund more than 100 projects all over the city that would implement park and open space priorities from neighborhood plans, acquire green spaces, improve athletic fields, add pedestrian and bike trails, support Zoo programs and maintenance, enhance park maintenance and expand recreation programs for youth and seniors.

Foundations

  • Philanthropy Northwest link to provides a webpage with tips on grantwriting and a form that can be used as a boilerplate for proposals, as well as information on finding resources and technical assistance for grantseekers.
  • Seattle Foundation supports organizations by making capital, equipment and operating support grants to increase organizations' capacities to serve their constituents.
  • Washington Insurance Council provides grants for neighborhood restoration, physical improvements and community building for community groups within WEED & SEED neighborhoods (Central Area, Southeast Seattle, Southwest Seattle).
