The Office of Hearing Examiner is a separate and independent office of the City created by the Seattle Municipal Code. The Office is charged with conducting fair and impartial administrative hearings, when authorized by the Code, to review the actions of various City departments. The Hearing Examiner's decision in a case is usually the City's final decision. This website includes: the Hearing Examiner's current schedule of cases to be heard, the Public Guide that includes general information about appeals and participating in hearings, Hearing Examiner decisions, general information about citation appeals in several different languages, answers to Frequently Asked Questions, Rules of Practice and Procedure, information on preparation of transcripts of recorded proceedings before the Hearing Examiner, several standard appeal-related forms and appeal fee information, instructions for making a public record request, the most recent annual report, and a customer satisfaction survey that allows those who have participated in a case before the Hearing Examiner to provide feedback on their experience. To learn how to order or listen to a CD of your hearing visit our FAQ page. Feel free to contact this Office if you have any questions about the Hearing Examiner functions or hearing procedures. Should you have a hearing or need to mail correspondence, please note our street address and mailing address on the right side of this page. Sue Tanner |
