Confidence Testing
All fire protection systems in the City of Seattle are required to have Confidence Tests performed at regular intervals as indicated on the Confidence Testing Schedule. Confidence Testing is separate from the regular building inspections conducted by Fire Department personnel. It is designed to ensure that fire protection systems installed in buildings are properly maintained and will work in the event of a fire.

Confidence Tests are performed by private contractors who must hold a Seattle Fire Department Certification to work on the specific type of fire protection system being tested.

Visit the Confidence Testing section for more information.

To contact the Confidence Testing Unit, please call (206) 386-1352.

Plan Review
The Plan Review Section reviews building and fire protection system plans for compliance with the Seattle Fire Code. On a rotating basis, one Plan Review Staff member is available at the Department of Design, Construction, and Land Use (DCLU) Applicant Services Center.  Visit Inspection Services and Fees  for more information.

Special Events  (see also:  Special Events Section)
The Special Events Section issues permits and establishes conditions to ensure public safety at large public gatherings including fairs, concerts, sporting events, and festivals. They also inspect and issue permits related to outdoor cooking, trade shows and other high profile events.
