Response Time Definition: The elapsed time, in minutes, from when the first company starts to respond to when the first company arrives at the emergency scene - i. e, travel time. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Fire Response Time Exclusions: Advanced Life Support (ALS) Response Time Exclusions: Excluding these records gives a more accurate picture of how long it
takes a company to leave the station and arrive at the emergency. Both situations - walk-ins
and response times of over 12 minutes, or 15 minutes in the case of
ALS, make up less than 2% of all responses. Seattle Fire Department
