Crown Hill - Station 35
About the Station Fire Station 35, located at 8729 15th Avenue NW, houses one engine company and a reserve engine. To meet current earthquake safety standards and accommodate today's modern equipment and firefighting operations, Fire Station 35 would require significant work. As a result, a new station is planned on the existing site. Design is underway, with construction expected to begin in 2009. Station Improvements The architectural firm Rice, Fergus, Miller is designing the upgrade. The project scope includes:
Temporary Relocation During the station upgrade, the station is expected to be relocated to an interim facility that will ensure continued fire and medic response to the neighborhood served by Fire Station 35. Current Status The project is in the schematic design phase. Milestones August 2007: About 200 neighbors attended the pre-design scope open house to learn about the new station, view sketches, meet the fire fighters, and tour the engine. July 2007: The Design Commission reviewed the scope/concept design. The Public Art Advisory Committee selected Kay Kirkpatrick of Seattle to create art for display outside the fire station. December 2006: Rice, Fergus, Miller were selected as the project architects. |
