Bridging the Gap Neighborhood Street Fund Large Projects

Description Funds used for large scale transportation projects (over $100,000) that are proposed by the community. Community proposals are reviewed by the Bridging the Gap Levy Citizen Oversight Committee, and the projects are completed by Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT).
Deadline Projects requests are identified every three years.  The next funding cycle will be in 2013 for 2015 construction.

Cultural Facilities

Description The Cultural Facilities Funding Program is a new, pilot program to award one-time funding to Seattle arts, heritage and cultural organizations, plus arts service organizations. Funding is awarded for urgent need capital projects such as facility renovations or completing the final phase of new facilities.
Application Opens May 14, 2012
Deadline June 20, 2012
Eligibility Seattle arts, heritage and cultural organizations, plus arts service organizations with at least a three-year operating history as a legally established not-for-profit organization, who have control of the facility through ownership or a longer-term lease, and demonstrate a record of ongoing artistic or cultural accomplishments in Seattle. Projects must be able to take place and be completed between Sept. 2012 and Dec. 2013.

Neighborhood Projects Funds

Description Funds used for small-scale improvements (up to $90,000) to neighborhood streets and parks that are proposed by the community. Project proposals are vetted by District Councils, along with either Seattle Parks or Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT). Based on the project, the improvement is completed by the appropriate department.

Neighborhood Matching Fund Large Projects Fund

Description Provides funds of up to $100,000 to support groups in building community relationships around a project. Projects must demonstrate a capacity to build a stronger and healthier community and:
  • Provide a public benefit and be free and open to the public.
  • Emphasize self-help, with project ideas initiated, planned and implemented by the community.
  • Demonstrate a community match of volunteer labor, donated professional services, donated materials, and/or cash.
Deadline The deadline for applications is July 16, 2012. There will be no Letter of Intent (LOI) required as in previous years. Instead, applicants must attend one of three mandatory workshops before they can complete an application. The workshops will be held:

Description Provides funds of up to $1000 to support community members in becoming civically engaged. Projects must demonstrate a capacity to build a stronger and healthier community and:
  • Provide a public benefit and be free and open to the public.
  • Emphasize self-help, with project ideas initiated, planned and implemented by the community.
  • Demonstrate a community match of volunteer labor, donated professional services or materials, and/or cash.
Eligibility Open to neighborhood and grassroots community groups with annual organizational budgets of less than $25,000.

Parks and Green Spaces Levy Opportunity Fund

Description

The Opportunity Fund provides $15 million in funding for community initiated park development or property acquisition projects. Parks will be allocating approximately $8 million towards projects in the 2012/2013 funding cycle of the Opportunity Fund.

With guidance from Seattle City Council, the Levy Oversight Committee developed criteria for the 2012/2013 Opportunity Fund appropriations. This criterion will be used for evaluating, nominating, and recommending a package of projects to the Mayor and City Council 2013.

The criteria and a detailed timeline for when letters and applications are due can be found on Parks website. An on-line application will be available by early April 2012. All projects are managed and implemented by Seattle Parks and Recreation.
