VSA - Vietnamese Student Association

VSA-UW began 20 years ago by several Vietnamese student who were struggling with adjustments to a new culture, a new environment, and a new way of life. To help one another through these challenges, they united and established VSA. As time passes and circumstances change, VSA changes.

VSA today:
  • Participates in community-wide and on campus cultural events
  • Coordinated free English as a Second Language classes for newcomers to the States
  • Give toys and presents to economically disadvantaged children during Christmas
  • Company recruits, academic forums, and publish student writings and artworks to promote education and personal growth; and much more.

Student programs and activities:

  • Quarterly dance
  • Ski trips karaoke/games/dancing lessons
  • Van Nghe(end of year cultural show followed by a semi-formal dance)
  • Fund raising events
  • Dances
  • VSAUW merchandise selling
  • Christmas toy drive and more

Activities:

  • Offers free martial arts classes
  • Provides lessons in folk songs and traditional dances to the youth
  • Participates in many cultural events through performing lion dances and demonstrating martial arts
  • Assists various community services
