English as a Second Language
Helping Link/Một Dấu Nối sponsors a ten week conversational English as a Second Language course that meets twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday) for two hours each session.
The course matches volunteer tutors with limited-english speakers. The course emphasizes conversational practice, familiarity with social interaction and traditional classroom methods. Helping Link's conversational ESL provides a special language learning activity not often practiced in the classroom setting, volunteer tutors serve as "facilitators" rather than "instructors" to initiate conversations. |
