Why Volunteer?

When it comes to volunteering your time or placing a donation for a worthy cause, the feeling of doing something good for others is overwhelming. Not only are you satisfying your desire to share your compassion and kindness with others, but also the warmth you receive is one that often returns through unexplainable and unforeseen gifts, experiences and occurrences.

At some point in your life, haven’t you ever needed a helping hand? Can you remember the relief you felt when assistance was received? Perhaps, it never came and you can relate to others who are currently suffering the same experience. There are plenty of ways to volunteer or donate that may or may not cost a thing. The benefits of doing something nice for another also continues to effect lives even after your initial gesture. Below are a few considerations to ponder:

What did you eat for breakfast?
I was terrified the first time I went to volunteer at Helping Link/Một Dấu Nối. I went in to observe, to watch other tutors teach English. It turned out it only took fifteen minutes before I had my own class. ( More... )

Restless in Seattle
When I moved to Seattle for my summer internship, I was stranded in an entirely new place. I did not know anyone. Being Vietnamese and having mentored Vietnamese children back home, I knew I wanted to do something similar in Seattle. ( More... )
