Mayor Greg Nickels and ULI Seattle are pleased to be partnering on a new speaker series, "Housing Our Future." This series focuses on the increasing challenge that many workers have finding housing that is decent, affordable and close to their jobs.
- On February 15 at City Hall former HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros kicked off this speaker series, discussing the many ways availability of housing for our
workforce impacts our economy.
- On March 8 ULI Senior Resident Fellow John McIlwain along with panelists from the Office of Housing, Lorig Associates and the University of Washington looked at the underlying causes of the decline in housing affordability and examples of best practices that communities are using to meet the challenge.
- April 17, Robin Snyderman, housing director of Chicago Metropolitan Planning Council discussed Employer Assisted Housing for a Competitive Workforce, see Robin Snyderman's presentation PowerPoint or PDF version.
