Professional Development and Technical Assistance

The City of Seattle provides a wide variety of educational offerings and support for child care providers and teachers who work at child care homes and centers that are under contract with the City of Seattle Child Care Assistance Program. The City provides funding to organizations that offer classes, workshops, accreditation support, on-site consultation and technical assistance, scholarships and tuition assistance.


2011 Funded Agencies and Programs

  • Child Care Resources provides training, technical assistance, on-site consultation, licensing and accreditation support, and tuition assistance for child care providers contracting with the City of Seattle Child Care Assistance Program.
  • School’s Out Washington provides on-site consultations, 20-hours STARS classes, conferences and community workshops for HSD-contracted school-age care providers, elementary and middle school community learning centers and Seattle Parks and Recreation ARC afterschool programs.
  • College Credits-Child Care Resources and Seattle Central Community College offer comprehensive scholarships to early childhood professionals who are seeking an Associates Degree in early childhood education at community and technical colleges. Funds are provided for tuition and some student support fees (books, travel stipends, etc).

In 2011, the City of Seattle provides approximately $662,375 of General Funds and $91,350 from the Families and Education Levy to the agencies listed above.
