Community Development Block Grant Programs

Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds are used for variety of purposes by the:

Office of Economic Development

Office of Housing

Human Services Department

Each department or office uses its CDBG allocation to support programs that help fulfill its mission.

CDBG funds have also been used by Seattle Parks and Recreation to improve parks and provide job training to homeless people in landscaping and maintenance, and by the Department of Neighborhoods to make capital and infrastructure improvements in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods. Effective in 2007, these departments no longer receive CDBG funding.
