For Abusers

If you have been abusive to a family member or partner and want to stop your behavior, there are programs in our community to help you. Visit any of the following agencies to learn more about their services:

These programs primarily work with abusers who are court ordered to attend the programs, but will also serve those who voluntarily enroll.

If you are not sure whether you’re being abusive, contact the Men’s Domestic Abuse Check-Up at the University of Washington, 1-800-MEN-1089. All calls are free, confidential and anonymous. Staff can help you take stock of your behavior and think through your options.

City of Seattle General Funds have been used to contract with nonprofit, community-based organizations to provide treatment to batterers since 1995. Contracting is determined through a competitive process that is conducted by the Human Services Department at least once every four years. Funding depends upon program performance and funding availability. The current four-year cycle ends in 2010. The 2007 allocation for batterer intervention services was $155,500 and the 2008 allocation is $161,000.
