Title V Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP)

The Title V Senior Community Service Employment Program is a federal job training program for older job seekers. Participants gain work experience through short-term subsidized employment and then make the transition to non-subsidized jobs.

Eligible job seekers are placed in job training assignments with host agencies that are registered with the Mayor’s Office for Senior Citizens. Title V participants work 15 to 25 hours a week.

New Title V participants must be:

  • 55 years old or older
  • Residents of King County
  • Unemployed, with low incomes

Title V is funded by the federal Older Americans Act through the U.S. Department of Labor and the Washington Department of Social and Health Services. The 2007 funding for this program in Seattle and King County is $277,789.
