The Seattle City Attorney's Office is divided into the Civil, Criminal and Administration Divisions.
Civil and Administration Divisions
The Civil Division provides advice to the Mayor and City Council, and gives opinions on city issues including contracts, employment, environment, government affairs, land use, utilities and torts. Attorneys draft contracts and ordinances. The City Attorney litigates all civil actions for the City.
The Administration Division staff provide budgeting, accounting, human resource, clerical and information technology services for the City Attorney's Office.
The Civil and Administration Divisions are located in City Hall.

Criminal Division
The Criminal Division prosecutes traffic infractions, a wide range of misdemeanors, trespassing, drunk driving and domestic violence cases in Seattle Municipal Court.
The Criminal Division offices are in the Seattle Municipal Tower.
