The Department of Administrative Services manages municipal real property, the City's motor pool and automobile fleet, the centralized data processing system, emergency management, contracting and purchasing, telephone and telecommunications services, central stores, printing and duplicating, and other services established by ordinance. The Department is financed by charging other City agencies for goods and services. The Department of Administrative Services was created in 1980 with the merger of certain functions of the General Services Department, Building Department, Division of Motor Transportation, and Office of Management and Budget.

Primarily includes old fire stations, but also includes Ballard City Hall, fireboat Duwamish, Jefferson Street Trolley Station, the Municipal Stables, and other municipal buildings, shops, and yards.
