Shoreline Rate Adjustment
Effective January 1, 2008
The City of Shoreline passed Ordinance 187 in 1998, specifying the terms of the agreement under which Seattle City Light would serve the City of Shoreline; this ordinance was accepted by the City of Seattle by Ordinance 11932 in 1998. The terms of that agreement allow Seattle City Light to recover the capital cost of undergrounding its electrical facilities in accordance with its standard financial practices. The North City undergrounding project in the City of Shoreline was completed in late 2006. According to Seattle City Light's standard financial practices, City of Shoreline customers will reimburse City Light over 25 years at five percent interest, and that reimbursement will occur in the form of a charge per kilowatt-hour to the customers in the City of Shoreline.
Ordinance 122523 passed by the City Council on October 1, 2007 creates new rate classes for City Light customers in the City of Shoreline. This Ordinance added a charge of $0.0007 per kWh in the City of Shoreline for Standard Residential and Non-Residential customers to reimburse City Light for undergrounding activities in the North City area of the City of Shoreline. Low-income customers will be charged $0.0003 per kWh. All other rates for Shoreline customers remain the same as the "Suburban" rates implemented January 1, 2007.
The new rate classes are:
RSH: Residential-Shoreline
REH/RLH: Residential Rate Assistance-Shoreline
SMH: Small General Service-Shoreline
MDH: Medium General Service-Shoreline
LGH: Large General Service-Shoreline
