Welcome to Seattle City Light
Seattle City Light is a publicly-owned utility dedicated to exceeding our customers' expectations in producing and delivering environmentally responsible, safe, low-cost, reliable power. We are committed to delivering the best customer service experience of any utility in the nation.

Public Power Week
October 5-11, 2008
"Public Power: A Tradition That Works"
Join Seattle City Light in celebrating more than 100 years of citizen ownership, local control, affordable rates and top-notch service to our customers. As the nation's fifth largest publically-owned electric utility, Seattle City Light is a recognized leader keeping rates low, keeping the economic benefits within our community, protecting the environment, and guiding our customers to be responsible energy users. Learn more by viewing the video and visiting the American Public Power Association web site.

No Rate Increase for 2009
Mayor Greg Nickels announced today that Seattle City Light will not seek an increase in its electricity rates for 2009. Seattle has the lowest residential and commercial electrical rates amongst comparably-sized cities in the United States. The utility will set future rates based on hydro conditions, wholesale energy prices, inflation and other financial factors such as weather conditions and natural gas prices. Read the Mayor's press release.

Power Players Honored at Seahawks'
"Blue is Green" Game

Seattle City Light honored some of its customers for their leadership in energy conservation during the Seattle Seahawks "Blue is Green" game Sept. 21. These "Power Players" saved millions of kilowatt-hours of electricity by working with City Light to develop energy efficient buildings, encourage the use of compact fluorescent light bulbs, retrofit lighting, heating and cooling systems, and develop solar energy projects.
