A four-acre multipurpose community garden has been created in  Magnuson Park by neighborhood volunteers in cooperation with the Seattle Parks Department and the Department of Neighborhoods.

The project was funded in part by a Department of Neighborhoods Large Project Award, the Pro Parks Levy, and private donations.

The garden was designed by Barker Landscape Architects through a public participation process over several months. A central feature of the garden is an arbor at the top of the amphitheater, designed and built  by Jon Ruhnke Landscaping; a gift of the University Lions Club. More about the Arbor

Among the garden components are:  An amphitheater, a childrens' garden, a native plant demonstration area, a native plant nursery, an orchard, 135 P-Patch plots, and a tranquil garden.

The garden will support programs for seniors, transitional housing residents,  youth, people with special needs, and neighborhood P-Patch gardeners.  It  will encourage people to enjoy an environment that promotes beauty, neighborliness, healthy living and stewardship of the natural resources of the Sand Point Peninsula.
