98th Clean & Green Seattle - Ballard
On Saturday, May 2, 2009, Mayor Greg Nickels led more than sixty (60) volunteers as they removed weeds, spread mulch and picked up litter along Ballard neighborhood streets. Mayor Nickels and Sonic Boom’s Jason Hughes planted a tree on Market street. Community participants included Beth Miller, Executive Director of the Ballard Chamber of Commerce, Art Olsen of Olsen Properties, Mary Hurley and Judith LaScola. More than six hundred pounds of debris and litter were removed.
Seattle Parks and Recreation, Seattle Department of Transportation, the Department of Corrections and Seattle Public Utilities also assisted in the effort. Ballard News Tribune and Corrie Bergman from myballard.com covered the event.
