100th Clean & Green Seattle - Southeast Seattle
On Saturday, July 11, 2009, Mayor Greg Nickels led more than one-hundred (100) volunteers as they removed invasive plants, cleaned traffic circles and picked up litter. ROSA, ONA, Hillman City Business Association, Rainier Beach Merchants Association, Rainier Valley Chamber of Commerce, South Rainier Valley Safety Partnership, Seattle Neighborhood Group, Got Green, LELO, MLK Business Assoc, African Business Assoc, Friends of Angel/Morgan P-Patch, Mt Baker Community Club, Letitia Neighborhood Group, Horn of Africa, New Holly Neighborhood Group, VOVINAM, and many other organizations from Southeast Seattle participated. A group of Human Services professionals from Ukraine also participated. Seattle Parks and Recreation Superintendent was on hand.
Department of Neighborhoods, Seattle Department of Transportation, Seattle Parks and Recreation, the Department of Corrections, Office of Emergency Management and Seattle Public Utilities also assisted in the effort. The Seattle Channel covered the event. Anthony Harris took digital photographs.
