Mayor Announces Results of Day of Giving for Tsunami Relief

Dear Friends:

Last week, we joined together in the City’s first Day of Giving for Earthquake and Tsunami Relief. At more than three dozen locations throughout the city, you came out and you showed a level of compassion that set an example for all cities to follow.

More than $33,000 was collected in just six hours. The contributions, as large as $1,000 and as small as a couple of nickels, were divided among NW Medical Teams, Mercy Corps and UNICEF. All three organizations will be providing relief and reconstruction support to the countries that were hit by the December 26th earthquake and tsunami.

Thank you for your amazing support for this effort. You have shown once again that Seattle is a great city with a great heart.
