P-Patch Community Gardens

Shiga's Garden

Garden Entry

Shiga's Community Garden started out as an empty lot in 2009, left undeveloped for more than 30 years. Neighborhood volunteers worked to transform the property into a new P-Patch for Seattle's University District and started planting in 2010. The landowner has signed a 3.5 year lease with the City (expiring 2012), and may choose to construct an apartment building here in the future. The Community is working with funding sources and property owner for the potential purchase and continued use as a P-Patch.
