ASAP

The After School Activities Program (ASAP) is a program designed to provide middle school youth with safe, structured activities after school. The program is a partnership between the Seattle School District and the Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation. Activities are offered at all middle schools and are led by teachers and community recreation providers. Over half of all middle school students participated in ASAP during the 1998-99 school year.

Over 94 % of parents, students and staff surveyed felt that ASAP provided a safe and secure environment for students to learn and play. "I like the program because I can learn a lot of new things and have fun," according to one student.

For parents, ASAP not only gives middle schoolers a safe place to be, but it helps support learning and achievement. "This after school activity has been the motivation for my child to attend school," reported a parent.

For more information about the After School Activities Program, contact your local Seattle School District middle school or the Seattle Parks and Recreation ASAP office at (206) 684-7123.
