Thank you Seattle for making this acquisition possible.

Parks acquired the 39,000 square foot property at 7028 – 9th Ave NW for a new neighborhood park. This space is open to interim passive use prior to the planning and development process for the new park. Goundswell Northwest and Whittier Community Council sponsored a celebration at the site on Sunday, May 4, 2008.

This park has received development funding from the Parks and Green Spaces Levy. http://www.seattle.gov/parks/projects/9_avenue/

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

On July 29, 2002 Seattle City Council unanimously approved Pro Parks Levy Opportunity Fund funding to acquire sites for new neighborhood parks in underserved areas of Ballard.

COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION

A community meeting was held on March 27, 2008 at the Ballard Boys and Girls Club to announce the possible acquisition of this site and receive community feedback.
