The Seward Park Playground Improvement Foundation (SPPIF) partnered with Seattle Parks and Recreation, Audubon Society, Friends of Seattle's Olmsted Parks, and Friends of Seward Park to hire a consultant and jointly steward the design of a new playground. SPIFF, with guidance from the Department of Neighborhoods and Seattle Parks and Recreation, reached out to the community and took this project through the planning and schematic design process. Johnson Southerland designed the play area after extensive public input.

Parks is moving the project forward based on the City approved schematic design.

Project Description

This project develops a unique play area that will serve local families as their "neighborhood play area" and will draw visitors because of its naturalistic character. The vision for the play space is intended to appeal to people very young through the teen years and incorporate features of interest that provide a fantastic place to explore nature in a fun, physical way.
