Be sure to mark your calendar for the 2012 Parks and Recreation Healthy Parks, Healthy You Event!

Where:  Magnuson Park, 7400 Sand Point Way NE, Seattle WA 98115 (Map It) *
Time:  9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.

  • Great activities and programs that help families to be active together, including a Fun Run, 3 on 3 basketball, and samples of the activities from all of our facilities and programs
  • Paddling and boating activities at the beach
  • Main stage celebration of cultural diversity - music, entertainment and activities
  • Creative unstructured play opportunities
  • Youth demonstrations of their newly developed skills in gardening and food preparation

Seattle Parks and Recreation offers endless opportunities to achieve 30 minutes of moderate exercise – trails, playgrounds, gyms, pools, fitness classes, athletic fields, beaches-and the list goes on. We want you to join us and be part of the healthy solution.

Exhibition Booths

Applications for exhibition booths are available as of March 31, 2012.

Volunteer Opportunities

We need volunteers to help organize the Healthy Parks, Healthy You Event and Fun Run/Walk. If you want to give something back to the health and fitness community, support a friend or family member, or simply enjoy the park, come join our volunteer family.

Volunteers are needed to help with the following:

  • Pre-event setup
  • Refreshment booth
  • First aid stations
  • Water stations
  • Timing chip removal
  • Cheer squad
  • Cleanup

Register Online after June 30, 2012

  • Fun Run/Walk - The 5k race is 5 kilometers, which is 3.1 miles around the paved trails in Magnuson Park. Following the 5k race there will be a Kids’ 1K race.
  • 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament – Enjoy our Seattle Parks hospitality and watch great teams match up against their peers. This year’s 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament is open to every kind of baller: short, tall, college players, recreation league champions, intramural players, or gym rats. Our youngest players must be entering the third grade in the fall of 2012.  If you are a collegiate athlete you may need to check with your Athletic Director before participating. As prizes are given to the winners of each bracket, The Seattle Parks and Recreation 3 on 3 Tournament is not an NCAA certified event.
