ABOUT THE PARK

Belvoir Place is a small waterfront park located at 42nd Avenue NE near Surber Drive NE in Laurelhurst.

Located in Laurelhurst, this small park overlooks Union Bay.

Belvoir Place has been designated a "Pesticide Free Park".

HISTORY

The park was named after the "Belvoir Subdivision" by W.H. "Uncle Joe" Surber, who lived nearby on Webster Point. Surber was a pioneer and a marksman, and he served as the first marshal, sheriff, and police chief of Seattle. Surber owned Seattle's first pile driver, the Excelsior, that worked on Lake Washington. He also built the first trestle for J. M. Colman on Elliott Bay.
