ABOUT THE PARK

Lake Union Park became a reality on July 1, 2000, when the US Navy conveyed the deed to its five acres of land to Seattle Parks and Recreation. The transfer consolidated the South Lake Union site into a 12-acre park. It is a unique urban gem destined to become a popular, waterfront park as it develops.

MARITIME HERITAGE

Maritime Heritage is an important part of the vision for Lake Union Park, Visitors will be able to experience and learn about the history of the Pacific Northwest's maritime world. Boat-building and boat-rentals, historic vessels, family programs, sailing classes, festivals and more are all part of the plan. In cooperation with the Center for Wooden Boats, the United Indians of All Tribes, and other maritime heritage organizations, the new Lake Union Park will offer people of all ages an array of opportunities to immerse themselves in Seattle's rich maritime culture.

The park's South Lake Union Historic Ships Wharf has been completed and is home to an increasing number of programs and visiting vessels. Contact the Center for Wooden Boats to learn about scheduled activities, festivals, or visiting vessels.

THE NAVAL RESERVE BUILDING

(aka "Armory")

The Naval Reserve Building, situated at the water's edge is becoming a popular place for parties and community events, as its huge interior can accommodate large groups of up to 1,150.

It is open Mondays - Fridays, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m..

RENTAL INFORMATION

Indoor, outdoor or both! Lake Union Park and The Naval Reserve Building can accommodate everything from a meeting for 10 to a major indoor/outdoor event for hundreds.
