Project Description

This project is part of the 2008 Parks and Green Spaces Levy and will provide for replacement of play equipment, access improvements, and other work at the existing play area.  The scope of this project brings the play area into compliance with current play area safety standards and guideline efforts of the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) as well as meets the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The Play it Safe at Laurelhurst Park group received a Small and Simple Neighborhood Matching Fund from the Department of Neighborhoods in 2009. The community worked with the Seattle Parks and Barker Landscape Architects to develop a schematic plan for the playground renovation.  Barker Landscape Architects has completed the final report including all the comments and suggestions from the public meetings held in 2010. Please see the final schematic concept and final design report for the play area below.
