Project Status

Spring 2012
Thanks to all who attended the third public meeting on April 24! Your input is greatly appreciated.

At this third meeting Parks presented a schematic design which was informed by the many comments from the community meeting in January. There were many good comments about the design and the general consensus was that people were quite pleased with the progress. Please see the meeting information below for specific details and drawings.

Parks will revise the design based on the latest comments and will begin construction documents. The Street Improvement review process will dictate with the Seattle Department of Transportation.

BUDGET
The Parks and Green Spaces Levy Opportunity Fund provides $364,000 for the planning, design, and construction of this project.
SCHEDULE
Planning: July - September 2011
Design: October 2011 - April 2012
Construction: May - September 2012
Completion: Fall 2012

Project Description

This project provides for a more accessible and usable site which demonstrates alternative green construction methods and reviews the possibility of a pedestrian oriented street at 15th Avenue between East Madison and East Pike Streets. The project site is located at the intersection of East Madison Street, East Pike Street, and 15th Avenue, directly west of the new Bullitt Center project.

This project was selected for the first round of Parks and Green Spaces Levy Opportunity Funding. The application receivedYou will need adobe acrobat reader to view this document. in this community-initiated process is a preliminary concept and the final design may be constrained by the project budget. All projects will go through Park’s public involvement procedure which includes public meetings and community input. They will also go through an internal Parks process to ensure the most effective implementation.
