The Interim Superintendent of Seattle Park and Recreation, Christopher
Williams, is please to announce that sufficient funding has been
allocated to this project to award a construction contract to
A1 Landscaping and Construction, Inc. The previously announced
2-part phasing of the project will not longer be necessary.
Due to the project site being an Environmentally Critical Area

April 1st of 2008. Parks will direct the project contractor to

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Opportunity Fund open house |
Parks acquired the Mt. Baker Ridge
Viewpoint property in 2003 with funding from the first cycle
of the Pro Parks Levy Opportunity Fund. Funding from the second
cycle of the Opportunity Fund will develop the steeply-sloped
site into an urban viewpoint park. The park design features a
unique sculptural viewing platform that extends from the sidewalk
to capture the western panorama of downtown Seattle, Beacon Hill,
Elliott Bay and the Olympic mountains.
COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION
The community nominated this park development project through
the second cycle of the Pro Parks Levy Opportunity Fund. The Pro
Parks Levy Oversight Committee reviewed and toured dozens of nominated
projects, and made its recommendations for project selections
in May 2005. City Council approved the Committee's recommendations
in September 2005.
